If you want to build a successful business online, don’t make the mistake of focusing exclusively on your company, your products, or your opportunity.
You may be in network marketing. Or direct sales. Or affiliate marketing. Or you may be selling other products.
Your products may be amazing.
Your opportunity may be life-changing.
But, should you just push your personalized company page? Absolutely not. Here are three reasons why.
1. People buy from brands they trust – and they don’t know your company/products
Unless you are in sales for a company with an established brand, why (other than perhaps price) would someone choose your products? Because of YOU.
Established brands spend millions on marketing and advertising that establishes them as a top brand, effective, and trusted.
Your company does not spend this money, because it relies on network marketing/direct selling.
You have a choice.
You could invest in marketing your company and products. You may get some sales and recruits. But it’s a tall task to compete on with the big brands.
Or, you could build YOUR brand.
You could establish yourself as an authority in an area — whether specific to an industry (health supplements, cosmetics, financial products, cooking) or to building a home business in general.
And, this is much more in tune with what network marketing, direct selling, etc. are all about – relationships.
When you provide engaging and relevant education, information, and insights to your audience, you begin to build trust in YOU as a brand. Over time, they begin to listen to what YOU are saying about products, opportunities, and companies.
Where would you rather focus your effort and money?
2. Potential recruits want to work with people/mentors, not companies
If you are trying to recruit people to build their own businesses in network marketing, affiliate marketing, or direct sales: again, why would someone respond to marketing for an unknown company/opportunity?
Maybe the sales pages are somewhat compelling. Maybe the promises of a potentially flexible and lucrative home business sound intriguing. But these things don’t usually build trust by themselves.
How can they know it may be possible? Once again, YOU.
If YOU provide education and information on how someone could succeed, if you can give people tips and advice on how to do it, they will begin to trust that it may be possible with YOUR help.
In traditional network marketing, most people who are successful have strong uplines/mentors and groups of people helping each other out. Same thing with online marketing. If you can build trust through education and information, people will want to work with you.
Most folks who are attracted to network marketing want to work with people who can help them succeed. The same goes for online recruiting.
3. Having your own brand gives you flexibility.
If you build your own brand, you have options.
Maybe you don’t need options. But why close doors if you don’t have to?
Maybe you want to offer additional products. Maybe you want to switch companies/products.
Maybe you want to offer your own products, such as an ebook about fitness or online network marketing.
If you have built the brand around YOU, you have much more flexibility to begin to introduce other opportunities and products.
