I was through with pestering friends, family, and acquaintances about my business.
Luckily, I found a strategy that would allow me to find new prospects using the internet who were actually interested in what I was offering.
There are a number of benefits to this strategy:
- You can generate fresh, qualified leads from wherever (and whenever) you please
- You can end rejection forever by only talking to people who are highly interested in your offer
- You don’t need to drive long hours, your startup costs are low, and your business works for you 24/7—without you ever having to pick up the phone!
And, you don’t need to be savvy with computers to start having success.
As a quick overview, the three steps are:
- Choose a blueprint or system to build online
- Develop an appropriate mindset for building online
- Find mentorship and a community to support you
These steps are inspired by a blog post from one of my mentors, Ferny Ceballos over at Elite Marketing Pro.
So let’s jump right into the first step.
1. Choose a blueprint or system for building online
How do you know which skills to learn and act on first?
There are two main methods of building online.
a. Active social media recruiting
You are probably already doing this approach.
It can be done with your personal Facebook or other social media account.
And you need a process, which sometimes is provided by your upline.
Basically, you are doing what you would do offline with physical friends and acquaintances, but taking it online.
Instead of bringing up your opportunity in physical conversations, inviting people to home meetings, etc.,
You will instead be posting, engaging, creating curiosity, and having similar conversations as you would offline, but now online.
But, your audience is limited to those you know.
b. Passive social media recruiting, a.k.a. Attraction Marketing
This is where things get interesting.
It is all about posting valuable content or information that inspires people to reach out to you and ask you what you’re doing.
In fact, a lot of people using this system are generating dozens of prospects reaching out to them, asking…
“What are you doing? I want to learn more!”
I prefer to start the conversation with somebody when they’re reaching out.
They are coming to you—instead of the other way around.
Then you’re able to create leverage and scale.
To do this on Facebook, you’re going to need:
- a Facebook Business Page (which is also called a “fan page”)
- a Facebook advertising account for advertising on Facebook,
- an ad that you create, and
- a lead funnel (using a blog/website).
There are other channels to reach people as well, such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and others.
The idea is for people to reach out to you by going to your website and submitting their information, which can happen 24/7 (while you’re sleeping or at the beach).
They’ll do this in exchange for valuable information you’ve promised to give them.
They are then automatically sent all the information they need to get familiar with your business.
By the time you get on the phone, they’re 90% sold!
You only answer a few questions, and they’re ready to get started.
It’s all automatic.
That’s what a funnel does.
This is how you can passively have prospects come into your business, every single day.
That’s essentially what we’re talking about with passive recruiting strategies (which is also referred to as “attraction marketing”).

2. Develop an appropriate mindset for building online
You’ve probably done some mindset training, but developing a mindset for building online may be different in some ways.
First of all, don’t think being online is a silver bullet to six figures. It may take a few months or more to start seeing good success.
Just as with traditional offline business building, it will take time and effort to develop skills and gain traction.
You will need to learn new skills to take your business online, but you don’t need to learn them all at once.
You can learn one or two new things. There may be 100 more, but what matters is that you start putting the one or two first things into action.
Once you’ve done that, learn the next one or two new things.
The important thing is to learn a bit, then ACT, then learn a bit more and ACT on that.
You will learn more from ACTING on what you’ve learned than from just learning it from training.
You can get started without being a techie – you don’t need to be a big computer person.
One other mindset hurdle is that you will be positioning yourself as an expert/mentor, but you are just starting out with Attraction Marketing . . .
The key here is that you don’t have to know everything to be able to share valuable insights.
You may have learned how to create a Facebook fan page yesterday, but there are thousands of people out there who don’t know how to do that or why they would want to, and you can be their expert.
Now, for the final piece, which is…
3. Find mentorship and a community to support you
It would be very difficult for you to do everything I just described without some help.
Think about it, when you started in network marketing offline, somebody showed you the next steps to take.
The same is true with building your business online:
You need someone to show you a step-by-step blueprint.
